About: The Sound of Women

This site's purpose is to expose the gender disparities within all areas of the music industry. The movement to integrate women into the industry holds a deep and prominent place in my heart as a music manager and booking agent intern. I work for a female producer and first hand get to see the assumptions placed upon her. I also get to experience the responses of amazement when men find out that a women was behind her production. As booking agent intern it hard to be taken seriously especially as a junior in college with no acclaimed experience in a agency setting - however for me to get there alongside the perceived strong headed men in the industry is a constant struggle. The organizations and women fighting this cause that I present here are my role models and I hope that by exploring this site you can begin to see how the music industry intersects with gendered relations of power.
