Nicole Barsalona

Nicole Barsalona ia a female artist manager and the president of Women in Music. Women in music “is the industry's leading non-profit working to advance the awareness, equality, diversity, heritage, opportunities, and cultural aspects of women in the musical arts through education, support, empowerment, and recognition”. As Nicole is the president of this foundation I classify her as an advocate for the movement. She not only dips her toes in the music world but also is the founder of Mommy Interrupted which is a support foundation for women who suffer through perinatal loss. So not only does Nicole advocate and support women in music, but in other major sectors of life as well. What interests me most about Nicole is her reach as women into the music world. She is mentioned in Forbes, Billboard and other major publishings. She is quoted demanding safety, equality, diversity, and representation for the women in the music industry. Nicole partnered Women in Music with Berklee school in music to create a study to investigate representation of women and their roles in the industry. Nicole is actively seeking to explore and open the blocked avenues that women are forced to pass by due simply to their identity as a female.

René Kladzyk

René Kladzyk is a Musician, Writer, Perfumer and Cultural geographer who adamantly advocates for a change in the way women are represented in the music industry. Her stage moniker is Ziemba. As Zembia she noticed how unequal the industry is even compares it to "a horrible onion where every layer is moldier and grosser than the last" in a article that she wrote for Vice. With rancid image in mind, René works to create a future music industry. Through her own experiences as an artist trying to produce her own work she has came across record labels, booking agencies, PR agencies, music festivals and such other music industries that hold women, non-binary, and/or transgender peoples in executive positions. She has compiled a public access, living Google Documen with these previously mentioned businesses. In this way René is working to provide the music community with access to support inclusivity in the music industry.
