Girlschool

Girlschool is founded was founded by Anna Bulbrook who is a recording and touring violinist who has worked alongside the likes of Vampire Weekend and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. Her goal in creating Girlschool was to alleviate the lack of women she saw in her experiences as touring artist. It began in 2016 as a women centered music festival and the key here is that these women were not just artists but stage managers and other behind the stage positions. Now Girlschool has now expanded into an “empowering and interdisciplinary community of excellent women-identified artists, leaders, and voices” some of these voices include Fiona Apple and Carrie Brownstein. In a world where large festivals are male centered and male headlined, Girlschool works to bring women into a space where they can be seen, empowered, and supported.
